I agree with Gothic Buddhist. Unlike my mom, you're not a single mother who needs a quick degree that will earn her enpough cash to support her kids. She is now a nurse, and is really hating it (or so she's told me on occassion). Be glad that you have your liberties and a whole plethora of options and opportunites ahead of you. It really comes down to what *you* need/want out of life, not "what does the world/every one else expect you to get in life."
You might want to look into anthroplogy (or even archaeology) as a career. You might not earn a lot, but the price of your sanity/happiness might be greater, ne? You could learn about ancient cultures, their mythology and maybe even go to the county of your choice. I read a post from a girl who ditched a career in political science to become an Egyptologist. It was terrible, she ^_- *had* -_^ to translate the myth of "HetHeru and the Destructiono fMan Kind." How terrible, hahahaha!! YOu wouldn't have to learn the language unless yo uwanted to though.
I'm learning Chinese for their advanced/experimental stem-cell medecin basically (though I usually tell people that I'm doing it to travel and learn crap - I'm not a druggie, honest!). My passion is martial arts, and my spine is no longer in complete working order. If I can speak Chinese (and if I can also work at the National Security Agency), than my access to information concerning doctors who can do advanced bone therapy would be greater (wouldn't it suck if after all of this work, Korea discovered the cure?). I have no real interest in China (other than that it's pretty and they have kung fu). Once I learn Chinese and have a steady paying career, I may pursue other things, my real passions being Ancient Egypt and Greek mythology...especially Egypt. Or maybe I wonn't and I'll allow myself the free time to explore the art I love to do. In conclusion to this little rant, you may also choose a career in something that you don't necessarily want to do, but use the high income from that job to support your other interests/expensive habbits/tuition.
