So I'm debating, and just debating, buying Wilson an Xbox 360 for his birthday in March. I mean, I make enough at my job to afford it, and I'm not flying anywhere or doing anything really expensive in the near future, so I just might do it.

I don't know though if he'd even play it. Wait, he's a guy, of course he'd play it.

IDK, maybe you should subtly gauge his interest in 360 versus other gaming systems? Maybe there's a particular game he's been dying to try?

(PS - I say this as a person who doesn't play video games regularly: the fun of the Wii can actually not be overrated.)

My parents have a Wii, and it is awesome. But I don't even know right now. He plays a lot of video games though, so I think he's like the fact that the 360 has a lot of big name games and stuff for it.

I'll probably just ask him outright though.

Yeah, I think the Wii is geared a lot more toward the casual user rather than the serious gamer.

Surprises can be fun, but if you ask him outright you're guaranteed to get him something he likes.

Dunno, from my experience (working in a gaming store) the 360 is sort of... a thing of the past. It won't have much new games coming out and soon it'll be near impossible to get games for it (let alone new games) so in that case you'd be better off buying either a Wii (for the more casual gamer, though there's a few 'hardcore games' like Resident Evil and maybe Zelda and some stuff out too) - or a PS3 or even a PS2, cause they will last you longer than a 360, even in durability. They are just far superior systems, but that's just my 2cents & that's europe anyway :P

Really? Cause in America the Xbox is still going strong, especially with Gates planning on just releasing upgrades for the system and not build another one.

wow that is so weird then, haha. Over here, because they're not building a newer one (preferably one that doesn't die on people all the time, too! At least over here, Nintendo for one is thought of as much more reliable, playstation too, for that matter.) they've kind of written it off. We had only two rows of XboX 360 games on sale, too. (less than half a meter, compared to three meters of NDS, three for DVDs, five for PS (PSP, PS2, PS3) three for Wii, 2 for pc games, etc. etc. :P)

So it's really weird that it makes such a difference on what continent you are speaking from haha
