Surfing around on the internet, as usual. I've somehow been reminded of the gay marriage debate we had in sociology last year, and pulled off one of the articles that I found that "denounces" gay marriage as part of the slippery slope to polygamy and polyamory. This article, in my opinion, is total bullshit, and just goes to show how paraniod and narrowminded people can be. It made me sick to realize that people actually believe this kind of stuff, but also gave me a good laugh as the reasoning that they used here is impossible to prove true, and just as easy to prove false.
For your information, the reasoning that they used here is called the "slippery slope" reason. It's basically saying that gay marriage will lead to this, which will lead to this, etc, etc. This is a FUNDAMENTALLY unsafe and shoddy form of arguement since it is IMPOSSIBLE to prove that such events will happen.
In case anyone hasn't realized it yet, I am in full support of gay marriage, since not being would be hypocritical. Please don't take this article seriously, The Weekly Advocate is a very conservative magazine, one that I detest. I'm just posting this because I think that people need to know how some people see gay marriage, and that (sadly), people like this are still out here, and often are the reason why homophobia is the number one hate crime in America.
Another annoying reason why we don't have equality
