Cause, you know, I don't already have enough on my plate right now, but nooooo, I have to go and start getting back into anime too.

My ear hurts. Logically, I should know that a new piercing in the cartilege will hurt, and that I should try to avoid sleeping on it, but hey, I'm just not that smart.. And jeezus, actually getting the thing done hurt way more then my tattoo.

Also, a shout-out to Pete Wentz for getting engaged. My friends and I now have to start a new betting pool on whether you and Ashlee make it to the wedding. Or if your bandmates even come.

Anyone else heard about the live action Akira movie? From what I know, it's being produced by Leo DiCaprio, and is set in New York. This will either be awesome or complete and utter bullshit.

1. Vampire Hunter D - Bloodlust Yeah, yeah, fantastically goth, but still awesome. And OMG breathtakingly pretty. UGH, the castle scene! Layers! I've seen it probably around 17 times, and haven't gotten sick of it yet. It's Dracula and Anne Rice but better! And all of the characters, good or bad are just so good it's sick.

2. Bleach As much as I try to avoid multi-cast fighting anime (see: Naruto), I'm loving Bleach. The Gotei 13, Ichigo being a lovable asshole, his dad being fucking kickass (I won't reveal the spoiler about him though), and most especially, the usage of Central and South American iconography, which really makes the show stand out. And the cast is pretty cool. It's a fighting anime that isn't like DBZ and takes twenty episodes for one fight. I can handle three.

3. Here is Greenwood Lovely manga. It's for girls, but focuses on the lives on a group of young men who all live in Greenwood dorm at their private school. It's one of those concepts where there should be massive amounts of gay, but the whole thing just ends up being about friendship, growing up, and finding yourself. And it's not preachy or trite.

4. Saiyuki Journey to the West! But without the retrieving Buddhist scrolls history crap. Demonic subplots and foul-mouthed priests making literature cool again.

5. Cowboy Bebop It's everything that Quentin Tarantino wants to be. The music, the irreverence, the cool. It's plotty and silly, tragic and funny. It's everything that anime should be. I can't tell you how awesome it is, it's just one of those that you need to see for yourself.

6. Blade of the Immortal Actual historically accurate setting? Check. Massive amounts of violence and swordfights? Check. Painstaking artwork and translation efforts? Check. Intelligently thought out critique of the samurai code and late-Tokugawa era Japanese xenophobia? Check. Philosophical observations on the inability to die and the meaning of life? And check.

7. Gundam Wing I'm not much for giant robots, but Gundam Wing was the first show that got me involved in fandom (way back before FF.net sucked), so it has a special place in my heart. And Endless Waltz was cool. Also, Treize Kushrenada and Lady Une? BEST EVIL VILLAINS EVER!

8. FAKE Gay New York cops! GAY COPS! This is what L&W should be like. And even though Ryo's an emo little boy, and I hate Bikky so much, I still love it. Even the 90's art style.

9. Neon Genesis Evangelion I think Evangelion is best described as a psuedo-psychiatric, gnostic, daddy issues, giant robot, coming of age, end of the world clusterfuck. But in the best way. Yeah, I don't get it either.

10. Samurai X So if Blade of the Immortal was one of the best samurai mangas, the the OAV Samurai X wins for anime hands down. Bloody, emotional, and tragic as all get out. The ultimate reflection of trust and betrayal at the hands of one you love.

11. Oh! My Goddess It's fucking adorable. The manga is the perfect lighthearted romance, and I have yet to get sick of any of the volumes. Yeah, it might rot your teeth with sweetness, but who cares!

12. Vision of Escaflowne Fox totally didn't do this one justice. Great epic fantasy adventure, with more giant robots (I lied, I really do love them), romance, psychic powers, and the struggle between a power-hungry empire and the small peaceful nations around it. Also, there are two versions of the manga, one aimed for boys, and the other for girls, which serves for some interesting comparisons. One of those animes that more people need to see.

On a different note, i can't stop watching FoB's "Sixteen Candles" video. I know it's been out forever, and I've seen it a million times, but I'm always like "Vampires! Gets funnier every time I hear it", and I keel over from glee at Pete's awful acting and Andy, Joe, and Patrick being hottass motherfucking vampire hunters.

And I'll shut up now.

That's a great list of anime you've got thar. Though I have to admit I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Bleach, or rather, the Hueco Mundo arc. But Isshin is complete win.

Blade of the Immortal has been one I've been meaning to check out for I while; I have only heard good things about it.

Ugh, Blade of the Immortal is so good. The only sticking point is that the manga takes forever to get translated and flipped, since the author does it in a unique way.

But it is really thought provoking.
